Our Programs

Three interconnected programs designed to meet first responder families where they are — from the first shift to the hardest day.

Support That Treats the Injury, Not the Stigma

For too long, the toll of the job has been something first responders were told to push down and get over. The science tells a different story. Post-traumatic stress is an injury to the brain, sustained in the line of duty, and like any injury, it can be treated. The Chip Terry Fund exists to make that treatment real, accessible, and built around the people who carry it.

Below are the ways we show up for first responders, their families, and their departments. Each one is designed to meet you where you are, whether you are a chief looking to train an entire department or an individual ready to take the next step.

Educational Workshops

We bring trauma education directly to your department, built around what your people actually need. Workshops range from foundational trauma classes and sessions for spouses to peer support training and guidance for senior leadership.

The throughline in all of them is one science-backed shift: understanding post-traumatic stress as a treatable brain injury rather than a personal failing. When first responders understand the injury, they stop hiding it and start asking for help. Every workshop is scoped to your department's size and goals.

Stellate Ganglion Block

The stellate ganglion block, or SGB, is a quick in-office procedure that can calm the body's fight-or-flight response, often within days and sometimes within minutes. It works by resetting the sympathetic nervous system, easing the anxiety, hypervigilance, and panic that so often come with post-traumatic stress.

The Chip Terry Fund funds this procedure for qualifying first responders and coordinates the entire process from start to finish. Because it works best alongside therapy, we ask a few questions up front to make sure the timing is right for you.

Retreats

Some of the deepest healing happens away from the noise, in spaces built specifically for first responders and veterans. The Chip Terry Fund partners with a small number of trusted retreats, and these are not programs you can walk into on your own.

We personally connect and sponsor the people we send, covering the cost and coordinating the way in, so the fit is right and money is never the reason someone goes without. If a retreat might be your next step, reach out and we will help you get there.

We also keep a vetted, regularly updated directory of trusted clinicians, intensives, and programs that understand first responder trauma.
