Retreats

For first responders carrying the weight of the job, a retreat is room to breathe, reset, and do the work of healing alongside people who understand. The Chip Terry Fund sponsors and connects responders to retreats built for exactly this.

Not sure which program fits?

Post-traumatic stress is a neurological injury, not a character flaw or a sign of weakness. It responds to treatment. For a lot of first responders, the hardest part is not the work itself, it is stepping far enough away from it to let the nervous system settle and the healing actually begin.

That is what a retreat does. It takes someone out of the environment that keeps the alarm switched on and puts them in a structured, supported space with peers who have lived the same kind of days. The result is not a vacation. It is focused recovery work in a setting designed to make it possible.

How access works

You cannot simply sign up for most of these retreats on your own. They run on referral and sponsorship, and space is limited. That is where the Fund comes in.
Here is what we do:

  • We vet and connect. Jo personally works with each responder to understand what they need and which retreat is the right fit.
  • We sponsor. The Fund covers the cost of the retreat so finances are not the reason someone goes without help.
  • We coordinate the connection. We make the introduction and help with the logistics of getting in, so you are not navigating it alone.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out. The first step is a conversation. We take it from there.

We connect responders to retreats we know and trust. These are organizations doing serious, proven work with first responders and veterans.

Tell us a little about yourself and Jo will reach out personally. There is no cost to you, and no obligation. This is a conversation, not a commitment.
